Nasal Tip Plasty (Tipoplasty)

Some of the patients who come for the nose job do not have problems such as nasal septum deviation or aquiline nose. They only have an aesthetic problem in the tip of the nose. Nasal tip plasty is a type of surgery performed in patients who have a drooping nasal tip, or a nasal tip that is thicker or thinner than it should be.

There is no surgical intervention on nasal bones or cartilage in nasal tip surgery. Only deformities at the tip of the nose are corrected.

How Nasal Tip Plasty Works?

The physician examines the patient to determine the type of surgery. Open or closed surgery takes takes about as little as 30 to 60 minutes. The recovery period after surgery is also shorter than other nose surgeries.

The procedure can be performed under sedation or local anesthesia, without completely putting the patient under anesthesia, in the operating room.

After the nasal tip plasty, the patient can be discharged on the same day.

Points To Consider After Nasal Tip Plasty

  • You should avoid any sports activities that may cause a blow to the tip of the nose.
  • Glasses should be used very carefully for the first 3 months.
  • You should avoid any action, such as blowing your nose, which may put pressure to your nose.
  • Be aware of household accidents such as hitting to the tip of your nose when brushing your teeth.

Will the tip of my nose drop again after the surgery?

This is one of the frequently asked questions by the patients.

After the operation, the tissue of the nose above the tip is hard and edematous. So, it rises up immediately after the surgery, making it look like the tip has dropped. The nose will take its shape within one year after the operation. If the patient’s nose skin is thin and he/she is under the age of 35, we should not expect a huge change in the shape of tip of the nose.

However, a slight drop in the tip of the nose may occur, if the patient is over the age of 35 and if there’s sagging of the skin due to aging.
