Nose Aesthetics (Rhinoplasty)

Situated in the center of the face, nose is an organ that usually draws the attention upon first eye contact. From an aesthetic point of view, it is important that your nose aligns with your other facial features. It is also important for the respiratory system. The nose should be evaluated not only aesthetically, but also functionally.

The medical name of cosmetic nose surgery is rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty aims to provide the nose with the best shape possible both in terms of functionality and aesthetics.

Rhinoplasty is one of the most frequently performed procedure in cosmetic surgery for both men and women.

How Rhinoplasty Works?

Rhinoplasty is a surgery that eliminates problems such as nose reshaping (reduction), aquiline (crooked) nose, nose augmentation, nasal septum deviation and breathing difficulties, depending on the patient’s needs.

In nose reduction surgery, some of the cartilage or bone is removed to achieve the required nose shape and size.

Nose augmentation surgery is usually performed for structural deformity caused by an accident or blow to the face, or to correct previous botched rhinoplasty surgeries. Cartilage is removed from the nose or from any part of the body to be used in nose augmentation. The nose is reshaped in the required size and shape with the removed cartilage.

Rhinoplasty should be performed by doctors and clinics specialized in the field.

The option for open or closed rhinoplasty will be determined after the examination of the specialist physician.

What Is Process After Rhinoplasty Surgery?

Recovery times vary according to the procedure applied and the medical problem in the nose. The recovery period in open or closed surgery is 10 days. The patient may have edema and purple spots under the eyes for 1-2 days depending on the patient’s predisposition. The patient will have her/his regular life comfort after one week. It may take about a year to see the result of the surgery and for the shape of the nose to set. Silicone splints and protective tape will be removed from the patient’s nose within 3-4 days after the surgery.

Thanks to the improving surgical methods, the deformities and functional disorders of the nose can be operated successfully by experienced physicians.

We will create a customized surgical plan for patients who are suitable for rhinoplasty. In this plan, the rhinoplasty surgeon will evaluate the nose aesthetically and functionally. The nose consists of skin, bone and cartilage from the outside to the inside. If the rhinoplasty surgeon deems it necessary, he may perform surgical interventions on the bone, cartilage or skin or all three in order to achieve the best result.

After a successful rhinoplasty;

  • The nose should be in harmony with other facial features,
  • The patient’s aesthetic and functional expectations should be satisfied,
  • The respiratory problem caused by the structure of the nose, if there’s any, should be fixed.
